Everything about visiting the Musikverein
When is the box office open? How do I order tickets? When can tickets be picked up? How do I get there?
Ticket collection
You can pick up your tickets after Musikverein has confirmed your order via e-mail.
As a receipt, you will need:
- the credit card used to place the order, or
- a printout of the booking confirmation sent to you by e-mail.

- in the box-office of the Musikverein during opening hours
- outside the specified opening hours and also in the box-office of the Musikverein from one hour before the start of the concert.
Ordering Tickets
Unless otherwise stated, advance ticket sales for members of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde begin two months before the respective performance. The general pre-sale starts one week later. These dates also apply to the advance sale of standing room tickets. The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde reserves the right to limit the purchase limit for each member to a maximum of four tickets on the first day of advance ticket sales for members.
Ticket orders in any form are binding. The ticket price will be debited via your chosen means of payment. The booked tickets can be purchased during opening hours at the concert box office or from 1 hour before the start of the event at the evening box office on presentation of your credit card or booking confirmation. Please note that it is not possible to cancel booked tickets.

Special Concerts & Third Party Events
Special booking periods apply to special concerts, third-party events, subscriptions and festivals, which will be announced according to individual circumstances.

Commission
If it is not possible for you to use your booked tickets, we will gladly take your tickets on consignment and offer them for resale at the concert box office. For this purpose, we need the original concert tickets. Depending on which tickets you place on commission, different commission fees will be retained in the event of success. The money resulting from ticket sales can be collected until the end of the respective season at the concert box-office from Mon-Fri 09:00 – 18:00 and Sat 09:00 – 13:00 upon presentation of the commission slip.

Single ticket buyers (regardless of membership status) receive 80% of the ticket price back

Dresscode
We would be delighted if you attended our concerts and events in festive attire appropriate to the occasion. A visit to the Musikverein should be something special. Sweatpants and tracksuit bottoms are perfect for sports, but not for the Musikverein.
Cloakroom
For security reasons, coats, bags, rucksacks, umbrellas and folding chairs may not be taken into the hall, not even to the standing area. The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde reserves the right to charge a fee for storing your clothing and larger bags or rucksacks. Please note that suitcases and large bags cannot be stored.
Accessible concert attendance
The barrier-free entrance for wheelchair users is located at the main entrance on the right. Elevators are available in the building.
The Musikverein has three wheelchair-accessible toilets: in the 2nd foyer (2nd basement floor), at the main entrance on the right and at the balcony boxes on the left.

Assistance dogs with you
Visitors with assistance dogs must register in advance to ensure the availability of appropriate places. A disability pass with an entry concerning the assistance dog must be presented upon admission.
Ticket purchase for wheelchair users
At all events of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien, the prescribed number of wheelchair spaces is available in all halls. Seats for wheelchair users and one accompanying person are offered at a reduced price of 17 euros each (Großer Saal and Brahms-Saal) and 15 euros each (all other halls). Subscriptions are offered at the same conditions for all cycles of the season.

The Musikverein building is centrally located and very well connected to the public transport network. Support us in our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability and travel by public transport if possible.

Please note that tickets for using the public transport network must be purchased from the ticket machines or counters of Wiener Linien. Our admission tickets do not entitle you to use public transport free of charge.
Bicycle
Travelling by bicycle is particularly climate-friendly. The Musikverein is easily accessible via several well-developed cycle paths: Ringstraße, Lothringerstraße, Canovagasse. For individual planning, we recommend the City of Vienna's route planner.
There are numerous bicycle racks available at Musikvereinsplatz and Karlsplatz, as well as bike-sharing stations next to the Vienna University of Technology and on Kärtner Ring (approx. 5 minutes away).
Parking facilities
There are various parking facilities in the vicinity of the Musikverein building, but we recommend leaving your car at home and traveling by public transport for a relaxed concert experience.

Please note that the entire First District and adjacent districts are paid short-stay parking zones, subject to the following regulations: Monday to Friday 9:00 – 22:00, max. parking time: 2 hours
Please note
Parts of Bösendorferstraße are residents’ parking spaces that may only be used by cars with a parking permit for the first district and vehicles marked with a disabled pass in accordance with § 29b StVO. In both cases there are no additional costs.

There are numerous garages and underground car parks within walking distance of the Musikverein.

Punctuality
Don’t come at the last minute. Bring a little time with you and let yourself be inspired by the ambience. Admire the rooms in which Anton Bruckner, Gustav Mahler and Johannes Brahms played …

Applause
In Vienna, it is customary not to interrupt the music with applause. Even if you are particularly impressed by the performance, you should only clap once a piece has finished, not after a single movement – this allows you to savour that brief moment when the final note fades away and to appreciate the piece in its entirety. The performers are then all the more delighted by a round of applause. Applause is also very much welcome when soloists or conductors take to the stage or leave it.

All listeners benefit from your switched-off phone. Especially you, as you can concentrate all your senses on the music.
Your new top hat is an eye-catcher, but your hairstyle also deserves admiration. Please refrain from wearing voluminous headgear out of consideration for those sitting behind you.

For an undisturbed concert experience, we ask you to turn off your mobile devices and tablets during the entire event or leave them in flight mode in your bag. Not only loud ringtones but also vibrating devices and bright screens disturb other people in the audience and on stage.
Image and/or sound recordings
Visitors are prohibited from making video and/or audio recordings before, during and after the performance without special permission. At events, the organizer or persons authorized by the organizer may make industry-standard audio, video or film recordings of the event. It cannot be ruled out that visitors may also be recognizable as part of the audience of the event in such recordings. These recordings may be made and subsequently used commercially without any time or space restrictions, provided that no legitimate interests of the visitors depicted are violated. Visitors to such events are not entitled to any compensation for the recordings made of them during or in connection with the event.
Programmes
Programme booklets can be purchased directly from the ticket office before the performances. If you have missed out on purchasing a programme booklet on the evening of the concert, you can ask if any remaining copies are available.
Admission time
The Musikverein building opens 1 hour before the start of an event. Admission to the hall is usually granted 30 minutes before the start of the performance. Please note that after the start of a performance, admission for latecomers can only take place during the interval or during a possible applause break. Entry during a movement break is not possible. This also applies to seats in the parterre and balcony boxes as well as for visitors in the standing area.
Catering
The gastronomic offer in the Musikverein, before, during and after the performance, is provided exclusively by Gerstner Catering. The buffet in the Erste Bank foyer is open one hour before the start of the performance. In the Gottfried-von-Einem-Saal on the first floor, a rich buffet is available during breaks. In addition to the bars to the left and right of the standing parterre, there are also bars on the gallery level if required. To avoid waiting times during the concert break, you can pre-order your selection from Gerstner.
